Right At Home Midwifery Services offers an extensive combination of prenatal, birth, and post partum services to provide each of our client's with the finest in complete childbearing care. We use the term 'midwife' in the literal and original context meaning "with woman". Our roles are as educators and facilitators in the normal physiological birth process.

Prenatal Care
We provide comprehensive and personalized midwifery care during the prenatal period. We spend at least one hour with the family at each prenatal visit. We include nutritional counseling as well as remedies and suggestions for the personal changes and complaints of pregnancy. We offer prenatal visits every month until 28 weeks. Visits are then every two weeks until 36 weeks. Thereupon visits are every week until the birth. Our individual visit includes a full physical exam and any associated laboratory services. Each prenatal visit includes vital signs of the mother, urinalysis, checking the size and position of the baby, and listening to the baby's heartbeat.

Water Birth
Right At Home Midwifery Services can provide water birth as a wonderful option for many families. We have found laboring in the warm water to be a valuable tool for pain relief. A 150-gallon, water birth tub can be loaned to you free of charge, and is available for laboring, giving birth, or both.

Labor and Birth
We will come to your birth when you want us to be there—or when labor becomes active. Ellie usually attends the births with an assistant and apprentice. We limit our practice to no more than four births a month, so that we may provide the best care possible. We monitor the mother and baby during labor and offer comfort measures, natural suggestions, and labor support. We carry herbal, homeopathic, and allopathic medicines, along with emergency equipment. We typically stay two to three hours after the birth.

Postpartum Care
Our postpartum care consists of a total of 6 visits. We come to your home for the 24 hours, 48 hours, 1 week and 2 week care visits. The family comes to the office for the 4 week visit. The final visit takes place at 6–8 weeks and includes a full annual exam and birth control services if desired.

The Midwife
Ellie Legare is both an Oregon and California Licensed Direct-Entry Midwife, and Certified Professional Midwife. She holds a Bachelors Degree in Holistic Midwifery.  She is trained in neonatal resuscitation, IV therapy, and suturing. In addition, she is an herbalist and massage therapist. Ellie was initially trained in the apprenticeship model and believes in carrying on this valuable tradition. Therefore, she provides apprenticeship training and currently teaches Gynecology, Hematology and Basic Skills at Birthingway College of Midwifery in Portland, Oregon. Ellie has been attending births for more than 11 years and has served over 325 women and their families.

Fees
Right At Home Midwifery Services accepts the Oregon Heath Plan, most insurance, and offers a discount for early payment.
